Title: brake issue
Post by: JackstandJohnny on September 03, 2013, 01:06:57 PM
noticed this on the weekend.
brakes don't feel right.  initial pump of the brakes it feels ok but then the pedal slowly starts going to the floor. so if i come to a stop at the light the jeep stops but then it will start to creep forward (as there is no brake pressure)
i first noticed it on a hill this weekend when i was on the brakes, cause instead of stopping it crept forward (and into a tree) by the end of the weekend i was pretty much pressing pedal to the floor just to stop on downhill parts.  road its not as bad but again, at a stop light the pedal goes down and jeep creeps forward.
fluid levels are perfectly high, and theres no visible leaking at calipers.

master cylinder crap the bed?

edit: upon further investigation i can see some weepage from teh master on the brake proportioning valve and the booster.  new master cylinder is on the way

pull the vacuum line off your booster and clamp it off. Try that. Will revert to manual brakes but you will then rule out the booster. Ive had 2 go in the past...
