Title: How well do AEV JK Pintler wheels fit on a Commander (XK)?
Post by: muffintop on October 18, 2013, 06:13:56 PM
What I know:

* JK AEV Pintler wheels will fit on an XK
* They will stick out further than the XK AEV Pintler wheels (no longer in production) as well as the factory XK wheels
* How many inches further they will stick out than XK AEV/factory wheels
* I am not going to wheel the XK, it will be used as a tow vehicle; however, I want to dress it up a bit (small lift, slightly bigger tires, Pintler rims)

What I don't know:
* How AEV Pintler wheels actually look, on a XK, in person?
* How much clearance will there be lock to lock on flat ground?

AEV Pintler questions:
* Anyone have JK Pintler rims and feel like popping by so I can try on my Commander?
* Anyone have JK Pintler rims for sale?
* Anyone have XK Pintler rims for sale?

XK Commander questions:
* Anyone out there have a Commander or am I the only one silly enough to buy such an awesome Jeep with such little aftermarket support :P
* Does the mere and rather bold act of purchasing a Commander qualify me for the Jagermeister club?  8)

Thoughts? Tips? Advice?

There's been a few Commanders on here. I was going to buy one last spring but after test driving a few I found I liked the Durango better. Suspension on the D felt WAY more stable, it didn't have that cheesy plastic chrome all over the interior that tends to flake off, the third row seat held three people(ok 3 kids) and the rear cargo area was actually there and usable.

I was really disappointed as I had really wanted one but after driving it I felt ashamed that jeep would allow their name on it. I was really concerned that if I took it off road I'd roll it. Maybe with the wider stance from the AEV rims would help.

Nah. That's my point. It's not a Jeep. It's a marketing ploy that dodge slapped a grill and logo onto.

I disagree... the "shittyness" of the XK is exactly what makes it a Jeep. I say that because I have owned:

1 YJ
3 TJ's
1 JK
2 ZJ's
1 WJ
1 WK
1 XK
1 WK2

My 2012 GC Overland (WK2) is world class, sophisticated, handles great, has no quirks or plastic interior. Way too good for the Jeep logo!

The vehicle you now own that i would like to drive is your Z06!!!
You actually might get some feedback from Pirate in the Jeep non hardcore section or probably the  JK owners forum
http://www.jkowners.com/
But Clay is right there is/was a guy on here with a 'killer' Commander.

Thanx Tom.

The Z06 is an amazing car with a few factory weak links fixed. Will dust just about any street legal car on a road course.

Anyone know who the guy is with the 'killer' Commander? I would like to get in touch.

Thanx.

Sounds like you were offended by my comments about the Commander. If so too bad, you asked if anyone had one and I gave you my honest impression of them and what I thought of them as an offroad(and on road) machine based on the test drives I did.  I'm guessing thats why there are not a lot of people wheeling them.

The only one I've seen on here that was modded was in a For Sale add. Try searching that forum.

You know it's going to be a good thread when people post so quick they don't check what they previously wrote.  :D

Not offended at all... I couldn't care less what people think... if I did I would have asked before I bought.

You bombed my thread so I bombed yours back. All in good fun... hope your not offended :D

OK... no time to mess with the lift so I had E-Mortal Customs install it. Great job, great guys, great shop. They also have a decent stock/selection of tabs, brackets, etc for the home builder. Nice to see dudes with an honest interest in your rig and doing a great job!

Looks like P265/70 R17's are too much tire in combination with a Daystar 2" lift. Didn't want to get into hacking things up so I am going to drop a tire size. Once again... lift and tires are only for show & tow.

AEV JK Pintler rims seem to be just fine backspacing/offset wise.

Will post again and add a few pics when I get wheels and tires installed.

Later!
