Hey guys, I was wheeling at McLean today with a buddy. I had to leave my Jeep behind. We went down a hill and ended up not being able to progress further, but I couldn't make it back up the hill. Nearly made it, but it is just too slick. Would snow chains help enough?

Better would be someone with a winch.
I'm up in Sylvan, but hold tight....I'm sure some of the Calgary people will be by to reply.

Chains might help, but make real sure you get the right size. If there is too much slack in the chains, they tend to create their own clearance.
Someone with a winch is usually the right answer - preferably someone in a second vehicle that you're wheeling with. Unfortunately I can't offer to help - I'm heading for the airport today.

Yes snow chains would help as well as a winch. Air tires down to al most nothing will help as well if no chains available. Do not post up a exact location till it is out of there. I can not help. Waiting for jeep parts.

Send me a PM to where you are at and if you still need help....I am heading out to Mclean to play around a bit this morning. Let me know your rough location as to where you are stuck, which trail and how far in. Hope to help!

Wow, thank you all for your replies!!
I got out. Bought snow chains from Canadian tire and made it out easily. Had three friends come out, we walked in from the main road, tried once (no dice - too slick), then put the chains on. We were all amazed at how effective they were. Made it up with no issues.
Again, thank you all for your advice and replies. It is amazing to see the help that this community offers each other. You guys are great role models to aspire to, and I will be more than happy to help in anyway I can in the future.
Only been a Jeeper for a little over a year, but I have learnt so much from just reading the forums, and have experienced a great community. I will be a Jeeper for life.
