Title: converting A/C to OBA
Post by: JackstandJohnny on January 03, 2014, 11:17:46 AM
my AC is shot anyways. might as well make good use of it.

is there anything specific i need to do to my A/C pump to plumb it for air?

i've set one up before, so i know i need the tank, regulator, fittings,  need to wire it etc.

if i recall correctly, to make it work i just need to put an 'inline' oiler on the intake and a 'separator' on the air hose right?

thanks :)

edit; read some old threads; should be good to go; only have to pull it apart if you want to use grease as a lubricant; i'm good with oil

I think there is a hole in the body you have to tap and plug.

Canadian4wd did a great article - lemme know if you want me to try and find that issue for ya

I know Lukeduke filled his with grease instead of adding an oiler...seems to work great for him.

i'll just use an oiler. if theres some plugs to fill i'll do it.  not sure where they are but i'll find it.  and plug it :)

just need a tank and I can start this :)

I knew I had it stored deep in the bowels of my endless supply of jeep articles....

The write up is extremely detailed, down to even the cost of each part.

Good luck Johnny. :)

One other thought....recharge your A/C and add a second compressor....like so:

Grease is the way to go. The grungle link is spot on. No oil to mess with. I just gave it a few shot of grease every couple of months and that's it.
