Title: May be a silly question,... Aftermarket hella driving lights.
Post by: JENSSEN on February 11, 2014, 07:48:58 PM
I got a set of hella 500 black magic driving lights .

The OEM driving lights are shot, can I wire these to the factory harness or just use the factory harness as a signal for the included relay and harness that came with the Hella system? Don't want a meltdown or factory harness fire.

I would go with option two.

Option drastically reduces the chances of a fire...and if you use an appropriate gauge of wire, the lights will be far brighter as well. Factory harnesses for lights tend to suck in a pretty epic way.

use supplied relay, if you want them even brighter wire the power feed to relay (with a fuse) to your alternator main lug. extra half volt or so. use the factory wiring to trigger the relay.
