Title: Brand opinions for TJ Bikini top and windjammer
Post by: Tanner on May 22, 2014, 02:18:51 PM
I have an 06 Rubicon that I want to get a bikini top and windjammer for. The searches I have done come up with several brands (Bestop, Rugged Ridge, Mopar etc. etc) They all look pretty close to me as far as install and function so I'm looking for some advise on the "best" brand to go with. As an aside, I usually run with a hard top or no top at all. From what I have seen, the bikini tops all require a windshield channel to install them. Are there any where the channel will stay on when I put the hard top back on? Trying to avoid the PITA with installing and removing the channel. Thanks in advance!!

I have the Rugged Ridge top and channel. Far from a PITA to install or remove the channel... as easy as removing two hard top bolts, if not easier..!!!  The two clamps hook into the slots that the hard top hooks into above the windshield.  Use the top down in the desert and works very well.  You can use the bikini top with or without the soft top door frames. We added the Rugged Ridge wind jammer and were able to keep the rain out and heat in.. both seem fine and will last if ya take care of it.....  hope this helps..

I've installed many bestop products, their soft tops are at the top of the list. Fit and finish, installation and instructions, all very good. The only top easier to install is mopar, but I wouldn't say it's better.
A nice tip for installing the top, install it on a hot sunny afternoon, let the top pieces sit in the sun for a while. Makes the installation way better.

I have the three piece combo from bestop, it works well.  I do pull my floor plugs for the summer though as it is far from water tight, water likes to accumulate in the tub.

Best pull your carpet out if you haven't already.
