I have started a soa on my 89 yj. dana 30 front with disconnect housing. i got a little excited and cut the stock perches off before tacking on the new perches now im not sure exactly where to put them. ie distance in from out side and castor angle. any incite would be appreciated. TIA

Would strongly advise not doing the spring over at all but Im sure thats not what you want to hear.
I'd also strongly advise you seek the help of someone more experienced if you cant figure how to locate an axle and perches under your YJ during your "custom" spring over install.
Just sayin

How can you recommend I not do something when you have no idea what I'm doin with the jeep. And as for needing help with my custom build the only reason I asked on here is because I got another set of diffs I am rebuilding and doing soa at my buddy's shop while my jeep is sitting in my back Yard. So I thought I could save having to crawl under it in the mud by asking. This is a tech talk forum or is it a smart ads usless comment forum.

As for where to weld on your perches, can you not mock it up putting the axle on stands, under the jeep, and mark the spot?
-
what kind of spring are you using?
tire size?
what rear diff?
the easiest way to figure it out is to hack off the old perches, clean the diff up, then reinstall the diff spring over in teh jeep, bolt everything up where you want it, tack the perches in place with everything where you want it at ride height (with weight on axles) tack it, pull it out, weld it in, paint it fuzzy pink, (colour options vary) then reinstall.
no quick route on this one i'm afraid, unless you have an install kit with VERY specific instructions, which, i'm assuming, you don't have otherwise you wouldn't have had to ask the question.
best of luck, and i highly recommend painting hem fuzzy pink. be 'unique' lol.

Just because you drink bubblegum vodka doesn't make you unique Johnny... It just shows you are a 17 year old female with questionable morals trapped in a grown mans body.
Bnine knows what he is talking about, and is a very valuable resource. Perhaps you want to post up what it is your wanting to do with the jeep, and he may in fact have some very valuable information that would help you out before this becomes a flame war. I do agree with Johnny though, not being a fab guy myself, but mocking it up under the actual Jeep with will probably net the best results. This way at least you know for sure where it needs to sit, and at which angle you want your pinion to point.Guessing will probably mean you have to cut everything off and start over again to get it done right.

Yeah, its a tech forum, where we discuss tech. Just because the tech you asked about it 15 years out of date and sucks.
Spring over is outdated tech that significantly hinders the ability of your rig. If you are doing the spring over so you can slap 37's on your YJ and park at the mall then all the power to you. At that point, we are not talking tech and this bullshit belongs on Beyond.ca.
This is a wheeling forum with wheeling tech. Meaning we are not in the habit of advising people how to "look badass" for the sake of "looking badass".
If you are doing it with the intention of ever taking it on a trail then stop now, do some reseach and learn what everyone else has known for over a decade.
SPRING OVERS SUCK
To much height renders the driveline almost non functional.
Excessive spring wrap results in very poor climbing behavior and requires a custom link/traction bar to even "sort of" work
Spring over reults in way more height than required for any YJ build which results in poor handling and major instability on the trail
The flat spings used for springs fatiqued incredibly fast making them a ton of work and money replacing all the time.
The list goes on and on and on.
You can run 35's on a YJ with a 2-4" lift, 1" body lift and TJ flares. 35's are the max tire you can run on stock axles without major headaches.
Want to talk tech? Thats tech. Want to talk cheap shortcuts using old tech thats been out of date for over a decade? Go ahead. Doesnt mean we are going to agree with it, or recommend it for you.

Asking questions of the person asking questions. Why not leave the tech for the men and go back to web wheeling on beyond.ca
Im sure your cluelessness will fit in just perfectly over there.
See, two can do this Jason. And lets face it, I've forgotten more about this crap than you will ever even hope to know. So keep following me around and trolling every post I make, and I will make a habit of pointing out all your hole filled web wheeling bullshit.

Post less, read more.
If you are willing to put in a small amount of effort and ask genuine questions instead of asking for help after you've got in over your head - or even if you're willing to admit that you're in over your head - you'll find that there are guys here who will happily share decades worth of hard-won experience for the price of a coffee. I know, because much of the small amount of knowledge I have comes from helpful folks here that have shared willingly.
If you think that Billy is being too harsh with you, just head on over to www.pirate4x4.com . I'm sure they'll be polite and sympathetic and will validate that an SOA is exactly what you should do with your YJ.

There are a lot a "what ifs" in your question. What size spring are you running? Shackle lift? Body lift? What size tire are you running?
Bnine has quite a bit of experience with jeeps and is more then willing to help.
Best have the axles under the jeep before you start welding on perches.
