Can anyone tell me what automatic Transmission will fit in my 1981 cj7? I want to use my 4.2L and my Dana 300 T-case.

You should be able run an old Torqflight 727 from an older full size jeep or a newer 32rh. Either on should work.
They need modifying if you are going near any water.
There are adapters to do Th350's and 400's. The advantage being cost and availability of the units themselves but the adapters are expensive and the size of them limits driveline angle on CJ's

Oh, and most 4.2's don't have autos for the same reason late model 4 bangers didn't. They are very anemic as is. An automatic robs more horsepower making them that much worse
If you are going to run an auto with a 4.2 I'd recommend tuning the 4.2 up and running relatively deep gears for a 3 speed.
