what do you guys use for your D30's? was looking up ARB and they are damn expensive. I could save 200 bux by buying in Australia on my way home, but that's still $1100
-
Raf I am using ARB in mine. Not cheap especially when you are not skilled enough to do the install yourself LOL.
Did you check price on Eaton or Ox
-
OX is around 900 bux, I haven't checked EATON yet, id prefer selectable, but maybe the Detroit trutrac is a good option
-
looks like e-locker is available for D30 now. $860 USD and the ECTED is available too. way more options now than I realized, last time I looked at D30 locker option there was not much.
anyone ran the trutrac in the front?
-
I had a 99 TJ with a trutrac up front and the super 35 detroit kit in the back, running 34" swamper LTB's. It was a nice combo and I would buy one again. I think the trutrac is only rated for up to 33" tires though
-
Yes, trutrac is only recommended for tires up to 33". It is basically a LSD differential.
-
My buddy is running a d30 trutrac on 35's but its only been in there for our recent Moab trip so too early to tell if its reliable. It seems to work, definitely not as well as a full locker.
I'm running an Aussie, not ideal in 4wd on grippy rock etc but it works very well otherwise and the price is right!

hows the aussie in snow and ice on the road?
-
Loren has Dom's d30 with the Tru track. Dom ran 35s.on it and the locker won. Loren is on 33s. So far so good
-
It can be fun. Drive smart. No issues
-
Will let you know how the OX works as soon as I get the time to fix the cable... My honey do list is ever growing and for some reason the wifey thinks that the Jeep is a low priority
-
i've got a trutrac for a D30 kicking around Raf, i'll sell it to ya if you want. not even a year old.
i picked it up used off one of the jeep junkie guys he had it in his JK. same part number for our YJs though. i'll never get around to installing it so you might as well

Honestly Im not sure...I don't daily drive my rig and I trailer it. From my experience on the trail and what I have heard from others you need to coast corners in some cases to keep it from pulling you straight ahead.
-
I have the arb air locker and I couldnt imagine having it AlWAYS locked. Thing hardly turns on any slick surface couldnt imagine it on snow
-
I just installed an Eaton E-Locker in my front D30... I'll let you know how it goes.
-
Icy/snowny sidehills can be down right treacherous with a front automatic locker.
