So, I tried being proactive and decided to replace my ball joints. My mechanic told me after that I had bent the upper C on my front axle. So it wouldn't drive straight. It drives like crap now, to the point that I don't think it's save. Has anyone had this problem, I could really use the help fixing this.

did it drive like crap before you took it to the mechanic?

No

hmm did the mechanic possibly bend your inner C trying to press out the ball joints, and is covering his arse trying to tell you it was bent. its strange that it drives like crap afterwards and not before. who did you take it to?

Chanda

ok, if its bent it could have happened on a hard hit offroad, only way to fix it is get a new inner C welded in. check for other bent components such as axle tube, and check the caster. do you want to attempt to fix this your self? or get a shop to do it?

I wish I had the skill needed to fix this, but i'll probably have to get a shop to do it.

Its pretty common to bend those. Unfortunately the new axles have really weak C's. Shitty deal.
It shouldn't really drive "that" bad though. I guess maybe its a matter of perception, but if it really is driving so bad, I'd look into the rest of the alignment and the condition of the other steering components. Seems like something else might be out.
