So today eep and I did my steering column in the Xj because my original one was destroyed.
Everything went in smooth signals work. Wipers work. Ignition cranks over but will not fire.
I have no idea what's happening.
Anyone have any ideas?

If it's cranking over.... do you have fuel? Do you have spark?

Problem solved. The metal plate under the ignition cylinder was swapped from my old column and it fired right up

What is this metal plate?

Columns out of a automatic have a interlock that won't allow a start if the jeep thinks it is in gear. There is another switch that is tied into the key/cylinder that has a small tab which when pushed down activates the switch which then allows the engine to run. It will only work in park or neutral. Did the steering column you sold Cory come out of a manual transmission XJ?

Don't know as it was pulled when I bought it, and now I know there's a difference :)
