Title: XJ Rear Hatch Swap Wiring Issues
Post by: bRIBEGuy on February 07, 2016, 11:18:01 AM
So due to "circumstances", I'm having to replace the entire rear hatch on my 2000 XJ.  I managed to find a reasonable hatch from a 1998, but have discovered that the wiring harness plugs are completely different.  GAH!!!

Has anyone ever come across this before and/or has an easy solution?  I'm thinking I could cut the plugs off of each harness with a few inches of wire, and splice the new plugs onto the old harness, but this also makes the assumption that the wires and their color codes are even the same.

Thoughts from the experts out there?

...do any of the coloured wires NOT match up?

If you're all clear, do what you just mentioned.

I just went thru all the wires, and 11 out of the twelve match up color-wise.  As such, I'm guessing the miss-matched colors go together for the twelfth connection.

Looks like I'm spending tomorrow with a soldering iron.........

Theory was correct.  Plug swap successful.
