I am looking into gasification, wheres the cheapest place to buy wood from High River to Stettler?
Wayne Keith in his Dodge Dakota "A chord of wood gives Wayne 5200 miles. $50/chord in Alabama.
1lb of wood gets Wayne 1.25mile
Looks like Waynes truck is a early 90's Dodge Dakota, so V6 or V8 engine.
Less then penny a mile!
Runs 37% more efficient then gasoline!
No smoke
A chord occupies a volume of 128 cubic feet (3.62 m3).[1] This corresponds to a well-stacked woodpile 4 feet (122 cm) high, 8 feet (244 cm) long, and 4 feet (122 cm) deep; or any other arrangement of linear measurements that yields the same volume."

Do you have to remove the nozzle restrictor in the gas fill tube to get the sticks in the gas tank?

This looks good in theory, not so much in real world practicality. I've seen videos of vehicles running on wood and they smoked, were slow and really didn't accomplish much. Not to mention 10 minutes of cranking before it would start and run. Not ideal for the jeep life.

So runs just like a stock Jeep?

Well I have been googling, and the statments in those videos are no smoke when running, power is good, 3 minutes on gas to warm it all up and cut off gas, and switch to gasification.
The smoke is just when they are starting the fire in the gasifier, which with the proper setup would only take a few minutes. I was concerned about that too, but while driving theres no smoke. Statements made also that its more efficient as well.
MotherEarth website did a video on Wayne Keiths setup from Alabama, its very interesting. He has several trucks. I wondered as well about the power, but to get from point A to point B on wood is great. A chord of wood = 5000 miles.
I will study up on it more, the cold Alberta weather might hinder the operation as well, especially the radiator part of it all. The only by product is fine ash at the bottom of the gasifier, which can be used as fertilizer.

Good thing you can fill up at a gas station when you're out. $14 for 7 sticks of wood. Even comes prebundled.

And instead of carrying a gas can on the rear bumper for longer trips, you can just toss a 2x4 in the back seat.

google a natural gas conversion........ a lot more efficient in every way, and dirt cheap.
