Newb question...
Can I run 31" tires on a stock 2005 TJ ?
Looking to upgrade from a set of 215 75/r15's to 235's.
Stock TJ 15" Rims
Thanks.

Generally they do fit. On stock rims they usually rub the control arms at full steering lock. Also they will probably rub the fenders if you disconnect the sway bar and are flexing off-road. On street driving is fine if you add wheel spacers or change to a rim with less backspacing.

Street driving mostly...
Need to replace the studded winters on my sons jeep for as little $$ as possible.

TJ Rubicon comes stock with the 245 75 16 which is a 30.5x9.5 tire. The regular TJs can run them too.

I thought the TJ Rubis came stock with 31s.
That said, I have 31s on my stock sport with no rubbing.

I got a stock 2001 with 31s mind you i also have the optional 15 x 8 stock rims - if you have 15 x 7 rims my understanding is that the tire manufactures frown upon install on a 7 inch wide rim at 31 inch size, that could be just the tire shops I was dealing with in the past but I`m not a tire expert

Depends what you're using it for. my 16x9 rims would burp if when i ran em less that 17psi... For the road as a daily maybe not the best option but for trail use it's fine...

Also I'm selling my 245/75/16s from my Rubicon. That's the stock tire size. The rims are 16" Dick Cepek rims. Let me know if you're interested. 5 tires and rims. I'm also selling my V-bar chains for the same size
