A four-year-old girl was in stable condition in a Calgary hospital Monday after being impaled on a tree branch while driving off-road with her family.

Exact details of her condition weren't released, but her wounds were not considered life-threatening.

RCMP said  the family was driving in a Jeep in a wooded area about 180 kilometres southwest of Calgary when a fallen tree branch smashed through the windshield. The branch was eight to 10 centimetres in diameter.

It narrowly missed an 18-year-old in the front passenger seat, went through the seat and impaled the young girl.

Her mother and six-year-old brother were also in the back seat.

The girl's father, who was driving, had first aid experience and was able to stop the bleeding until help arrived. Another family member driving nearby went for help.

The girl was eventually picked up in a helicopter by forest firefighters who were on standby in the area. She was taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to Calgary by air ambulance.

Don't know of anybody in our Club or acquaintences in Lethbridge that match that description.  Thats a regular area for alot of Lethbridge folk.  They mentioned that there were three in the back seat.  I kind of wonder if they were in a Cherokee, Liberty, or Grand.

If anyone knows this family, please post up or drop me a PM. I'd like to do something special for this little one. Maybe the club would want to a little toy convoy to cheer this kid up. I'm sure she could use it.

We need to find this girl/family. Anyone have any more info, maybe a name?
