Can I replace my 3.07 gears with 4.10s? Or do I need a bigger carrier?
-
yes you need a bigger carrier.
3.73 is the max with the carrier you have.

Actually Greg, in the D35 the break is at 3.54 and the D30 is 3.73, but yes the carriers will have to be switched. Depending on what it is going in, find a set of 4 banger axles and do a direct swap.

thanx guys. once I find the right carrier and gears, will I have any problems with the size of the carrier housing? Or do I need to go with a bigger diff?
Kasey.

"Uh.,,,,... I'm so stuooooopid"
<repeatedly punches self in head>

No other changes to the diffs, just carriers and gears
-
yup thanks to black yj I now have 4.10's in the jeep. It is far easier and cost effective to swap out the whole diff. I can't wait to try out the air locker that came with my rear diff. How is your 8.8 rear working out black yj?

his 8.8 sucks. it is really stinks.... expecially on scott's YJ

The 8.8 is GREAT especially on my YJ. I LOVE it especially with the 4.10s and 4.0L now. I can just crawl like nothing, plus I have disk brakes, no more brake fade after mud holes. Oh and Apex, this is how you spell "especially"

sorry Scott, i was thinking about porn at the moment.

mmmmm...porn.
