Title: aftermarket YJ front tow hooks
Post by: dunl on August 18, 2006, 05:40:12 PM
I bought a set from PA, only to find out that the bolts that came with it were narrow thread, not the wide one like on the torx head.  Then I bought new 1/2" bolts, only to find they are REALLY tight to try and get in there.

Plus, unless I'm a complete idiot....how the hell would you attach a nut on the end of the bolts, if they go inside tube?

As far as I can remember mine were really tight to get in, there is threaded holes for the 2 bolts one is hidden under the plastic cover.  BTW I bought some from PA not thinking of how far the bolts are appart and the hook was too short so i bought some the right size and put those shorter ones on the back

I tried using the tow hooks from P.A. The bolts are not the same and neither are the hole locations. Red is right...there are two holes for each tow hook. I went and ordered hooks from National that fit properly. No nuts are required, they are only included with the universal tow hooks.

I got some from national they had some on the wall.  Just a side note if you have a chevy or GMC Sierra the tow hooks are the same as well as the bolts.  At the time my brother had one and they would work well in a pinch.
