Last night we were driving in on the #1 coming from Sask and we past (several times) a car hauler truck. The interesting thing about this truck was that it was carrying 2 2007 4-door Jeep Wranglers. Awesome looking Jeeps. If anyone sees them getting unloaded at one of the dealerships please let me know.
-
Hey Whitney......I'll let ya know when I have one show up :D .
-
Sweet. I want mine in diesel.
-
I seen some on a truck today. not sure where they were getting unloaded..

Me too as I was coming out of the RoadKing... a Black one and a Kaki green one....
-
I guess they started shipping them now.
-
Mmmmm....diesel jeeps.
Torque, torque, torque.

We aren't going to see disel Wranglers for a couple of years I don't think. DC is dropping the CRD from the liberty in 2007 for various reasons and until they spend the dough to emissions test a new diesel we won't see one for a while. That's assuming that they don't/won't put the G. Cherokee diesel in there which seems unlikely.
-
DC is building a new small diesel engine plant in Ohio. Once that is operational, expect a flurry of DE options.
-
That's awesome news! I'd be all over that once the option is availiable.

Cool!! That definitely supports what I've been hearing. DC aparrently dropped the Liberty diesel because the engine was coming from Italy and it was getting expensive to ship. I was told that it was dropped until they could building them in NA.

Those won't be diesels guys :x . Still gunna be a while in the making I'm afraid :( . I'm betting those were just 2 doors too....4 doors seem to be a little behind the 2s. I'm not expecting our first one for quite a while yet, maybe 4-6 wks. If anyone sees them on the ground lemme know where eh
-
They definitely weren't diesels but I can say for a fact that they were 4 doors. I have a very bad picture to prove it too. One was even a Rubicon complete with BF Mud Terrains.
I was thinking that they might even be pre-production test units for journalists. Probably making the rounds accross Western Canada.

Sky Jacker and Full Traction have both release kits for them.
SK is a 2.5" to fit 33's
FT is a 3" to fit 35's aparantly...
new site is up... http://www.project-jk.com/

Sort of on this topic...why is it called a JK?
We got the CJ, TJ, YJ, XJ. Do they actually mean anything. I heard that CJ is for civilian jeep. Possibly TJ for trail jeep? Why switch the J to the first letter now?
Me and some buddies were joking when they came out with the four door saying it was JK for "just kidding". Obviously that aint the case.

I don't think so, they are already on the lots south of the border

I was hoping for the longest time, that it was just a Joke......... But the JK started to grow on me. Sectional hard top, large stock tire size, etc. it's looking better and better. I'll definately be going down to take a peek at one when they get here.

Review in the Calgary Herald today...Havent had a chance to read it yet, but i figured i would get the word out.
-
I was in five Jeep dealers today, three in Calgary (Tower, Big 4, Varsity) and two in Red Neck Deer (Northwest, Southside). No JK to been seen anywhere. Not in front. Not in any showroom. Not anywhere on the lot at any of them. If there's a public "debut" release date delay for showroom display until they all have one example, those that have one are obviously hiding them somewhere.

New October issue of Car and Driver is out. Page 86 features the international press introduction weekend to the new Wranglers in Zambia, Africa.

I just heard that Sept 18th is the official date that DC has given its dealers to start selling. This is in the States of course and it is completely hearsay but it explains why people keep seeing them on the trucks but all the dealers are stunned to hear that they are coming. Conspiracy?

The ones you see on the trucks are for the dealer "Ride and Drives". Its a program where pre-production units are sent by truck from city to city so the sales people get a chance to check out and drive new models.
I've been to a couple, the vehicles they send are usually cobbled together and can have miss matched parts on them. Once they are done the "Ride and Drive" curcuit they are usually crushed.

The ones I saw looked pretty new. Nipples on the tires and everything. You would think that if they had been driven before they wouldn't look so good. Not to mention that there were several (5-6) Dodge Nitros on the truck too. Doesn't add up in my mind.
