hey guys, i keep seeing pictures jeeps on the "killer cutline" just wondering where it was exaclty? also, i was in waiparous last weekend, and noticed that there were'nt very many trails marked with those signs anymore. so what does this mean? if we're caught on a "quad" trail, but there are no signs, can we get in trouble?
p.s i called the missing signs WAY back in April.....
-
dunno about the cutline...not modded enuff, but the signs means ppl are stealing them to celebrate their trailing and the bs that's associated with GAMP....yes you can get in trouble because it shuld be posted on the map i think...it's been a while since i've been out there.
-
Killer Cutline is just off Hunter Valley road. But the exact location does not matter, because it is not open to 4X4's
Can you get in trouble for being on a trail without jeep signs? Yes :!: up to a $1000 fine. But it will likely be smaller for a first offence. (In my opinion).
-
the fine is 57 bucks as i know one person that has all ready got one
-

Bottom line, If there is no sign? It is CLOSED.
The SRD has made criminals out of good citizens!!!!

I totally agree with what people are posting, but probably not a good idea to be posting stuff like that on a public forum. People in BC posted directions to a closed area and they were met by RCMP and fined. Just a little heads up.

And even more importantly, guys like Tom have spent a lot of time with umbrella groups to try to retain and regain our trails. If we entertain running closed trails, we loose a lot of the effort many members have made in trying to establish off-road credibility with the SRD and other government agencies.

Anyways, no killer culine bud, its closed.
Of all the times to delete a thread, now is one Bob, before someone says something we dont want said on a public forum.
No offense to you Rig, its an innocent question, just a real touchy topic.
-
Killer is closed even though it is high up on solid ground with one tiny creek crossing but Meadowcreek which borders and enters many skeggy riparian areas is open. Yep, SRD really knows what they are doing
Bnine, i agree.

sorry guys, i didnt mean to insinuate that i was going, or planning a run, just thought that maybe, with some luck, it was opened up to us. so just to re-iterate, if a trail has no sign, then it is closed? just to trucks, or to all? if that is the case, then waiparous is closed down to all, cause there aren't any signs left.
-
There are maps available which show what trails are what.
Not seeing any signs at all is typical arsholes with the "save a tree kill a logger" mentality running around ripping them down.
Find a map, or head out with someone that knows what trails are open to trucks.
The number is not that high, so it isnt hard to remember after a time or two.
-
Rig... Lost Knife , Meadow Creek, the trail to Margaret Lake (only to the lake , not the rest of mockingbird eiter) and the trail to the falls (for only part of the year) are open.
If you know them or locate them on a map.... these are the ones  . If you get a GAMP map we (the trucks) have the orange ones. Most of the orange "trails" are roads (ei: Hunter Valley rd.)
I hope that helps..
(please correct me if i'm wrong)
I'm not going to Waiporous anymore... I can do ALL these "trails" on 2WD (or with Honda Civic  )... if I go ...it would be for the nice scenery ...not for the challenge of the trails.
May be one day we'll get them back if we work hard at it and are not idiots about the situation.

or with Honda Civic
OK Dom, you've said it now. Let me know when you are going to prove it. Should make for fun pictures. Boxing day maybe.
-
how's this for hipocracy...when i was out in the earlier part of the summer with a friend from work, i spotted a trail marker (jeep) sign nailed to a tree...i thought they were trying to protect the land and creatures. i've got a pic to scan in and let them have it.

I've seen a VW Fox station wagon twice at Margaret Lake...

I put my foot in my mouth.. I have to go buy a Civic now

I noticed that too. If anyone else nailed something to a tree, I'm pretty sure something would be said  I believe that recently, a well intentioned group built some bird houses and nailed them to trees in the Maclean Creek area. The Conservation officers were not to happy about that. The same CO's who put up the waiparous signs ???? Hypocrisy is a good word to use here.

i'm going out on friday night w./ jag, so i'll see if i can find this again, or if they've taken it down... we can raise some hell with these pics. i find it hard to believe that they would accuse us of misuse and damaging the trails and then they go and damage a tree to nail some goofy piece of plastic to it.
oh well...that's all politicians are...hipocrates. (and jokes)
i'm gunna get a black eye from this one for sure...
"hey...to everyone (especially those who talked to the moderators), i'm sorry about the wording of my post...this kinda stuff (hipocracy in general) makes me very mad and sometimes i just have to let it all spew out...i'll do that @ the meeting in october, or this one, if i make it back from crow mountain in time! :) but for now, i apologize and realize that was the wrong approach to take."
-
I don't think anybody is happy with this situation. it's done... We have to deal with it.
Please people... It will do no good to "raise hell" .... Instead try to focus your energy into something more constructive like finding a way to get our trails back.
Talk to these guys www.ab4wd.com and see if you can help!!!
Thanks!!

Actually...if you have ever checked out Killer Cutline, I believe it is closed to about 99.23% of the rigs out there. Sign or no sign
