Will a brake booster from a 4 banger jeep comanche work on a '89 YJ 4.2L?

Probably.

You just need to check that that MC will bolt up, and that the booster is close enough to the right demensions.

There's a possibility that they are identical going from 86 to an 89.

All you can do is try.

Otherwise, jeepstuff charges under 100$ for a booster and MC combo off of YJ's.

Well I spent the weekend on the heep before the winter.  I did the rear main seal, valve cover gasket and tried the brake booster and that was a no go.  Got the old one off, it looked the exact same, but it was just a no go.      What a never ending project....!    :?   Off to jeepstuff I go!
