Only when the Jeep is moving? How about when you rev the engine?

I paid $425 at Pats Driveline for my stock front ds to be rebuilt to have a sealed+greasable cv and a new greasable ujoint on the front. They rebalanced and re painted the shaft as well. Really happy with the work, and I highly recommend Pats for their service. I just dropped off my shaft and it was done 3 days later.

Anyways.

Is it rotational, a steady squeel, and does it change with clutch in or out.

With your latest clutch posts, I wouldnt rule out the pilot bearing, or throwout bearing.

Your description is to vague to just dismiss as front driveshaft.

I got my CV & U-joint rebuilt on my front Drive shaft... at DSI... $185 TX in last spring (it was a DSI custom shaft originally).

Just had my front drive shaft replaced under warranty (03 Rubi).  Only 58,000 km.  Same squeal noise as previously mentioned.

I bought the rebuild kit from DSI ($35.00 I think + u-joints) and did it myself.
If you haven't done it yourself I recommend you do. At some point you will be doing it on the trail. Best to learn in the comfort of your garage the first time.

It sounds like angry sparrows.  Basically a worn out centering bearing in the CV Joint.  I have/had the exact same problem, but dropped out the DS and repaired it today.

Don't pay somebody to do it for you.  For $13 each for 3 U joints and about $35 for a center bearing repair kit (or $70 ish for a new one) you can do it yourself very easily even if you have little to no mechanical experience.  Try this link out as it helped me a lot.

http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/driveshaft/driveshaft-5.htm

+ you don't need the U joint press.  You can do the same thing with a vise or pound them out/in with a hammer and a socket (which is what I did).
