Title: Highest mileage on a TJ

Just wondering who on this forum has the highest mileage on a TJ with the inline 6? A good friend of mine just inherited a TJ from his dad who was the original owner and it now has 422000km with only the motor being touched once. I'm no jeep guy but I was impressed :shock:

WOW, either that's a fluke or the Odo is upsite down.

If it were a '97 that would be around 46900km/yr which sounds like a PILE of highwy miles.

I guess if it were properly maintained... erm... immaculately maintained it could last that long. You sure it's not a Toyota? :lol:

I checked it is a 97, and yes it was a lot of business trips to Edmonton from Lethbridge, however this thing has never been taken care of other than oil changes from the 20 min guys.

See, wheeling (a jeep's true purpose) kills it! :roll:

But for a rig that was baby'ed, and only driven on the street, I can believe it.

For a 97, that was wheeled hard, I couldn't possibly believe it.

I guess anything is possible!

Steve, apparently we will convert you yet!!!  That definitely sounds very high.  Maybe we you are starting to understand the Jeep thing.. ;)

2001 TJ 4.0L 241,328

nothing done to it other than basic maitanance

All u-joints changed at 165,000

Clutch changed at 195,000

Hub bearings changed at 210,000

Still got all the original front end parts

I think it might be time to change the original spark plugs :D

129,000 kms....................#4 piston cracked(rebuilt)
174,000kms.....................Motor gernaded.

280k on our 4 litre xj. Still the fastest rig in our fleet  :D  :D

310,000 km  on my 95 yj w/2.5L  Doesn't need to be top up between oil changes either.  :o

well, the 4.0 in the tj being nearly identical to the 4.0 in the YJ, my brothers had a pile of "registered" miles on it when he sold it.  IRRC it was over 420,000 with only the head gasket changed cause we had to do the ex. manifold anyway and fugured might as well take a few more bolts off for good measure.

Just a few Km's short of 200,000 on my 97 4banger TJ. Since I drive it in such a gentle caring manner I should get another 200,000 out of it. :lol:

I had my 93 4cylinder Tacoma up to 390000 when I blew it, but it was ridden very rough. I'm in the market for a early 90's jeep right now and I just hope I get one that's as tough as the ole Tacoma
