Canada has 3 vets left from WWI, and they are 105 and 106 respectively.
The Dominion institute has started a petition to hold a state funeral for the last vet. As a rep said, this is a watershed moment for Canada as we lose the last connection to that era. For those who are history buffs you all know that WWI was a defining moment for Canada where we stopped being another British colony, and became country in our own rights. The vets were the reason for it and it was their professionalism that stood Canadians apart.
Personally I think it's the least we can do for the last vet, so here's the link. CBC.ca has an article on it as well.
