Title: After Market Temp Guage
Post by: 4wheelfever on November 09, 2006, 09:26:50 PM
I have been trying to figure out how to install an after market guage cluster in an 89 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0L (oil, temp, and voltage).  I can't figure out where to install the temperature probe...  Is there a spot in the cooling system where this probe is able to be installed?

You could get a t-stat housing from a HO motor and use the port in it for your probe, or just pull the stock one and put it in there, you wouldn't really need the stock one if you have an aftermarket one. I'm guessing you have the idiot light package?

I should have been more specific, I can not seem to find where the existing temperature sensor is located on my truck.  When I look on the internet is says it should be by the T-stat, but mine does not appear to be there..  The guage system that came in the truck are just lights.

I just bought it for going into the backcountry and I want to be able to determine when the truck is starting to heat up, as I hear the cherokee's tend to heat up quite easily.  This is my first project vehicle so I will have lots of learning to do....
