Title: Rhino Liner or similar finishes
Post by: 01sahara on December 19, 2006, 06:32:01 AM
Has any one tried Rhino Liner or a similar product on a flexible surface?  Would it just crack and fall off if used on fender flairs?

I am having some paint and repair work done on the jeep in the next few weeks I am thinking of having some finishes done with Rhino Liner: for example: grill, rockers, bumpers. Would this material work on the 4” fender flairs or would it crack when the material flexed. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks

It would crack, and chip off. My whole inside and outside has been done. I have a few chips on the front. I didnt do the flares.

Why would you want to do the flairs?  It is not a flexible product from my understanding

I have my front grille and the fronts of the fenders done with a rock guard product of some sort, it works good.

Thanks guys.

My plan is to do the bumpers, front grill and the front of the fenders in a bed liner when the jeep is apart for repairs and  to replace the fender.  I may trim and paint the fender flairs flat black then. The gloss paint that is currently on them has taken a beating over the last year and the left one will need a heat gun to put it back into shape.  I was just running the ideas around on how to finish them and I thought might not work on a flexible surface.

Grant covered the flares on his 60th anniversary TJ with the spray-on boxliner that Canadian Tire sells. It looked good, was tuff and did not peel.

Wrenching on the jeep

I will be out in the garage on Saturday morning at 9:00 to start pulling the damaged parts off the jeep. I have to run Nolan to a hockey game at 1:30 +-  So If any of the members want to drop in on Saturday morning to talk jeep the coffee will be on and I will be out in the garage from 9:00-1:00+-.

Rhino linning used to have samples in their shops and said that if you could rip or tear it they would give you it for free. You could bend the sample and it would never break, so I believe it's flexible.
