Title: What gears
Post by: trackerthrasher on January 28, 2007, 06:31:15 PM
the jeep is a 91 yj Renegade and I want to run 35" A/T tires with a 4.0 HO. Sometimes (2-3 times a year)I will have to pull my travel trailer that weighs about 3000 lbs. The jeep is used as a daily driver and hardly ever sees a trail. Thanks for the input ahead of time!

Get a cherokee d44 or a explorer 8.8, and do 4.88's front and rear.

Thats deepest you can go on the front diff, and will handle a 3000lb trailer.

Anything higher will struggle badly with the trailer.

Make sure you have trailer brakes.

I set up a 8.8 with 4.88's for a guy that posts here once in a while. All yukon stuff. They setup pretty good, the install kit is really nice.

Recommend a crush sleeve eliminator with the install kit, and you need to shave 2-3 ring gear teeth a bit to fit the crosspin in with 4.88's.

Good luck.

I've got Yukon's in mine and am happy with them, found the install easier than normal. Nice instructions.
