Title: tail gate quoral

my tail gate on my 97 tj has been smoothed over.  if i can find the original location of all the bolts that hold the spare on am i able to drill right through the door and bolt on a spare mount?  reason is, is that the wreckers want 400 bucks for the gate and mount.   thanx

I have a stock mount you can have for free if you want it.
I can't help with the holes

I would suggest it depends on HOW they filled the holes.  If they were all welded then I would say you are outta luck.  If they were just fiberglassed over, then maybe.  Could try a magnet to see.  Your best bet is to take the free tailgate and repaint it.  I could walk you through that easy enough....!
