My 95 YJ today started to have a "clunk" each time I released the clutch, right about where the friction point is (I'm hoping you guys call it that out here). Sounded more like something loose than something broke, right about where the tranny/transfer case are.
Unfortunately, happened on the way home to meet my father-in-law for renos, and I just finished that project. Looking for ideas on where to tug on parts tomorrow morning.
Thanks.

Bump.
I'm going in, now that morning chores are done. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

If it is anything clutch related you will obviously have to pull the tranny, but I don't really know where to begin. Maybe check out your tranny mount, it could need replacement and due to the sudden loading of releasing the clutch is could be moving too much

Okay, I'll check the mounts. Took it for a quick drive and it seems now like it is more of a "loose" sound, caused by the movement of the jeep, althoughI was sure yesterday it was from the clutch. :?

Back again, and pretty loud. I'm thinking u-joint.

Okay, turned out to be TWO u-joints. Dropped it off at Barbaric 4x4 in Rocky this morning.
Two u-joints + labour was $133.56, with no notice about dropping it off, and it was done a while ago. Nice.
