Anyone have experience with storing their hardtops with a hoist-a-top? Any issues? I'm thinking about getting one, but I'm nervous about leaving all that weight hanging on one eyebolt over the hoods of my Jeeps.
Plus I have this really annoying beam with different ceiling heights either side, right in the way of the perfect location for it:

I got one but cant really use it, no way or room in my garage. i doubt weight would be an issue. besides, once you hoist it up you could support the bar on each end which would keep it stable as well.
it's yours if you want to try it, i'll send it to the next cja meeting.

Go to Princess Auto and make yourself one. If you are worried about the weight hanging from an eyehole, I would highly recommend going into your rafters and putting a 2x4 across your beams and bolt it to that.

There's no way in hell I'd trust something I made to hang over my Jeeps.
I'd appreciate a trial Al, if it works I'll definately buy it off you if really don't need it. I'd hate to order one and then find that beam prevents an install.

Its not that hard of a build. I got a writeup on how to do this puppy. I should mention this is not mine... I used 2x4's for both front and back lifts. I also used a 40:1 hoist with a wormgear.

Got the stuff Al, thanks. I'll take a look at the weekend and see if I can get it to work in my garage. From the quick look I did last night I think I may be able to squeeze it in.
