Hey everyone,
I have an AX15 tranny, and the rear seal looks to now be leaking.
Anyone ever have to replace their rear gasket before? See, i got the jeep, and then switched everthing over to synthetic, and now this rear gasket is showing its true colors.
Tips or trade secrets out there ?
is it such a pain that I really should just get National 4wd to do it ???
Thanks,
Strongbad.

Rear seal at the motor(oil pan meets bellhousing), or at the transmission between the t-case and trans itself?
I can fix either, but am to busy for a rear main. Transmission seal I could do.

Oh ya, tip of the day if you havnt changed those fluids a lot in the past its possible you over filled the tranny and its puking a bit out of the vent. The trans vent is centered, close to you shifter on the very top.

Hey B,
Its actually the seal between tranny and t-case. My rear main engine seal is just sweating, like every other 4L on the planet.
I changed it about a month ago, and hadn't had any puking before. but of course, i swapped the fluids to synthetic. When I filled it, i made sure that the fluid was below the fill hole. I'll crawl underneath and check to see/feel if its wet near the vent.
Thanks !

I can change that in a week or so if you can live with it that long. If its really loosing fluid and you prefer sooner, call hi-tech auto.

Thank Bill,
I think I can live that long to fix it. Its more of a pain, than a serious leaker.
If you think that you and I can whip it off one night next week that would be great.
I'll go pick up the part, and some pops too.

Thanks Bill & Mike,
The seal is holding tight, and I really appreciate both your help in taking the time to help me out.
Thanks again,
Mike.
