I just pulled my t-case and we just lifted the back up and down and the case just walked right out.

still no luck..... all bolts are removed and there is nothing left holding the tcase to the tranny other that corrosion around the bolts..... right know there is a cum-along attached to the hitch and a chain wrapped around the tcase applying tension to the whole assy... the case has taken a beating and still has not popped off....  i am hoping that by tomorrow the penetrating oil and the tension will work their magic and the two will be seperated when i go out the garage........ :?

so after 18 hours soaking ( with pentrating oil ) under tension...still no luck.... unfortunately no luck... something had to give!!!!!
with the help of the XJwrencher and his trusty sidekick, XJhero, good finally prevealed over evil
after removing 3 out of six studs out the tcase with the trusty visegrips, and sacrificing the the front half of the 242 case  the tranny and the tcase finally seperated( with the help of a wedge, 2 prybars and a whole lot of colorful language ).

the whole time we could not figure what was holding the tranny and tcase together...... it turned out the steel bolts and aluminum cases corroded together with such force that it to brute force and the BFH to overcome.

after looking on other sites that cater to the Grands, this is a common problem.... hmmmm????

i can take a couple of pics to show those who are curious about what galvanic corrosions can do to an assy like this...

a couple of little things left to do and the swap is complete. 8)
