Post by: fony3 on April 16, 2007, 11:50:12 AM
The time has come to change my rear brake shoes, i was wondering if there is any tools that i should buy/borrow to make this task easier.

Thanks

You can do it with regular hand tools, but for the $15 get a brake shoe tool, it makes life a little easier.  Otherwise they are pretty simple to change.  Also spend the $10 on new hardware.

Is it a brake retaining spring tool? (from a quick google search)

Ok...so i ran into a problem...or at least i think. I pulled off my drums, and the shoes i have are two separate pads with a gap in the middle, the shoes i bought are one solid pad.

My guess is that i need to go buy myself some new drums?

the pads I just put on mine had the gap like the stock ones.  Although I got mine from quadratech in the states because it ended up costing less for all 4 brakes then buying local.  Maybe double check with the place you got them to make sure the pads are definately the right ones.
