Well my addiction to jeeps has now spread to my friends. So my buddy buys a 2000 TJ sport today and as we are driving away from the dealership, the instrument cluster starts acting weird. First we loose the tach, then speedo and get an airbag light. The tack comes back intermittently and then it magically fixes itself. We test drove another TJ with the same problem and didn't buy it because of that exact problem. Any ideas???

If all your gauges are going dead and the check engine light is coming on, typically its just the connection to the wiring harness at the back of the cluster. Pull it apart (10 mins top) take some needle nose pliers and give the pins a slight twist, add some dielectric grease and reinstall. Very common problem.

sometimes cars that are sitting on the lots for an extended period of time have electrical issues because the battery has drained and is not charged properly... I have seen this numerous times.

yeah sounds to me like not enough juice.................. Seen it before when the alt. goes.
