Title: stance wider?
Post by: scrambler on June 01, 2007, 05:55:06 PM
Hello I am new to this site and new to the jeep seen, I have just bought a CJ7 (81) and am looking to make the stance wider, I have looked all over the net and have found loads of stuff on axles and what not. What I am asking is what do you guys think would be a good route to do this? I like to stay an easy trails at Mclane nothing crazy. Would wheel spacers be a good route? please let me know thanks.

Jared.

If you aren't looking for anything crazy you could just buy some fatter rims and tires. Try a 10.5" wide on a 8" rim. If you really want a wider stance you could get some wheel spacers. If you are just doin the easy trails @ Mclean... don't bother... you'll do fine without a wider stance.

your jeep allready has the wide axles for a cj. the popular swap to get wide axles under a cj are to use a scout 44 in the rear, and a narow track wagonere 44 in the front. these axles are only marginaly wider then the ones you presently have. to go any wider then this you will have to use full size truck axles, which is really to wide for the average rig.
