Well there's still crap out there . Most people feel like giving up right now because of a recent kick to the nutz. However our irresponsible politicans and lazy SRD are not gonna break our community! Erin and I will be going to pick up junk and fix some trails. I'm taking the buggy since I haven't wheeled in 5 or so years and make a weekend out of it. All these bullies that want to ban us are going to have to fine us for fixing what they have allowed to happen . I can't wait to go to court and fight a fine for fixing trails without their permission. With a monster truck.
Any and all help is more than welcome. Just tread lightly, avoid tearing up the vegetation , stay on trail and be responsible.
9am, Saturday, July 7 - meet at the Mclean store
We have one week to come up with what we are going to do to fix our trails... start posting.
We will also be camping overnight at the Mclean campground if anyone would like to join us.
We need pickups to take the garbage down to the dumpsters or out to the dump, we have lots of AURS garbage bags, please bring gloves and rain gear just incase. Cameras are more than welcome!
See you there!!!

I'll be there to help.
To reply to Clay's comments. I don't think anyone will have issues with us doing minor trail repairs. The bigger issues are doing the larger projects such as bridge building/stream diversions. Or anything to do with affecting the watershed issues around the streams and river banks.
If we fix a few holes and repair fences I'm sure that will be appreciated by everyone.
-
Awesome, thanks! Pass this on... we need a lot more people this time. The cleanup after the may long only produced 7 people in total for Mclean & we only got Fisher East done so it would be great to have more help this time.
Thanks for pinning this!!

I can’t think of the spot you talking about at the moment Ian but I am willing to help you apply for a FTA. We will need photos, accurate description of the location and a plan including equipment materials and safety issues. If it’s minor SRD may say we don’t need one but we have to ask first. If it’s a larger project then it needs to be in writing so SRD can approve of the work plan. Lets take a drive out to see the site after work next week.
I think helping with a clean up next weekend in Mclean is a good idea. I will need to check my schedule and check family commitments but will try to make it out for a few hours if someone wants to organize this one. My schedule is to full next week to be the lead on this one.
Do we have a volunteer that wants to plan where, when, who and what you need?
-
We should be out as long as we can get babysitter......
-
Time to work on clean up next Sat.
-
Bump... we need volunteers!! It's always the same guys and gals showing up to the clean ups.
Please do it... event if you are fumed off at the government and at the Yahoos that cause the problem out there.
Just do it to support Clay and Erin from EVO that gave lots of their time to clean up people's mess. Like Clay said... he doesn't even wheel that much but he'll be there cleaning. Times have change... there is lots of irresposable people out there that come for the long week-end to trash the place. If it continue like that,... trails will close like in Indian Grave and Waiporous... let's try to keep what we have open if we can.
Thank you for the support :D

i'll be there with my 2wd pick up. i can't arrive until 1:30.

I will try to get out on saturday as well
Also Erin, have you contacted any of the media about what is happening? Is the SRD aware of it as well?

Bring some shovels, rakes, hammers.. whatever just incase. :) Camping spots are available but they are fist come first serve... see you at 9am!!

I will bring the ford, and do the first pick up load and take it to the dump.

Just wrote an email to the contact at the Herald who published the latest article about Indian Graves. I have invited her & the media out on Sat. Hopefully they can make it!!
Clay will be bringing the Warthog to prove that "Monster Trucks" are good guys too...

A few of us will come up to help with the clean up on Saturday. We don't wheel in the Maclean area but we recognize what is happening will affect us all.
Problem is we probably won't make it by 9am so it would be nice to have some directions on how to find the clean up crew when we do arrive. I haven't been in the Maclean area for quite a few years.

Hi Stephen! We thank you for volunteering your time! We will be either on the Fisher East or Fisher West trails first. Have you ever been to McLean before?
If not, when you come in, you will see a little store on the right. The road will branch off in a Y direction from there. Follow the road to the LEFT and stay on there until you come to a large staging area called Fisher East on the left. Fisher West is just a little ways further up the main road. Drive up there, I'm sure you will see us along the main trail.
There is no cell reception there unfortunately, but there's enough of us that you should be able to spot someone.
If all else fails, look for the Warthog ;)

I'll have my waggy there as well

At the store at 9AM :D

We'll find you. Won't be bringing any trail rigs just a truck or two to do some work. Hopefully we won't need aggressive tires to access the areas you're cleaning.

No aggressive tires needed... we will be staying pretty much on the main roads. Thanks again for your support! I look forward to meeting you..

Alright everyone....
GLOBAL TV will be there with cameras interviewing us and filming our cleanup tomorrow. Bring your trucks, keep it clean and show gthe city what responsible users are doing to keep the areas open.
I spoke to Caroline Curry for about 20 minutes and she asked me a bunch of questions so hopefully I dont come out sounding like a dork haha.
See you all tomorrow!!! I might be picking up some food to bring for the volunteers... just dogs & pop or something for later. You're all welcome to come by our campsite after the day is done to relax. :)
Erin & Clay

Please if you get interviewed tomorrow, make it known how disappointed we are at how the MEDIA protrays us ALL as the big bad 4x4s and that it is all the 4x4s fault. Put some of the responsibility back on them
-
My $0.02 after dealing with the media for several years is if you try to push blame on them they will make you look worse.
Remember you get to tell your story once - they get to interpret it anyway they want and you don't get a chance for a rebuttal.
Best advice is to have one or two soundbites and stick to the soundbites. Don't get sucked into answering other questions or venting. Stay calm, cool and professional. Most of all give a positive message and don't poke blame at others.
Another thing to remember is nothing is off the record and the microphone is never off when you are speaking to them. Just because the camera isn't pointed at you doesn't mean they're not recording what you're saying.
-
Looks like Brenda and I are not going to make it :( we have to go to a funneral  sorry guys

Apparently there will be a report on Global news tonignt, saturday,at 6 and 11. I think that is channel 7.
Should be a favorable report, but we will have to wait and see.

Sorry I did not make today guys.... I had some unexpected stuff come up.

Well I just watched the coverage of the McLean cleanup on Global. Well done guys. The media pointed the finger at the government for not setting and enforcing rules for back country use. At least that is what I got out of the report.
-
I just watched the 11 o'clock news. It was about 11:06 and was a good report. They metioned that the voulnteers are paying for everything out of their own pockets, and they mentioned that the clean up was done after the Government failed to do it.
Great job guys :!: :!: :!:
Thank you :!: :!: :!:

all i can say is great job!!!! 8)
