I'm hoping someone could tell me how much time the shop manual say's it takes to re + re a transmission in a 88 Jeep Commanche.
I had a shop in Calgary put in a used transmission in but it had problems, I took it back next day and they agreed it needed to be changed.
I think I'm getting ripped off, the total bill is around $2400.
Any info would be helpful,
Thanks

Does that include rebuilding? Is it standard or auto, either way $2400 to R&R equates to 24 hours of shop time. I would call a few rebuilders and get some quotes.

It was just a swap with another used transmission.
It,s a standard, BA 10/5.

Mitchell on demand lists the hours to remove and replace that transmission at 5.1 hours. the BA transmission is only good for a boat anchor. You should be swapping a different transmission into that vehicle. If you have a 4cyl you could put an AX 5 or with a 6 cyl an AX 15. What shop are you using?

Thanks for that info. A relative got me in contact with someone today who said Cheltons (sp) says it takes 2.3 hrs to re+re the transmission.
I took it to "The Transmission Specialist" here in Calgary. I'm having quite a time with them. It took them about two months to do the job and the hassel isn't over yet.
I went to the BBB and AMVIC. Not much the BBB could do, so that's just leaves AMVIC or going to court.
As for a different transmission, I gave it quick thought but I doubt the Jeep will be in there for the long run.

ya the shop i used to work at had quite the fight with them, but 2400 sounds just wrong for a R&R of a standard trans.

That's interesting, what was the fight over?
I hope it turned out well, but it's difflicult when they aren't truthful.
