Hey Jeepers, Im wondering if anyone has ever shipped a vehicle to another province via train...? The reason I ask is because I'm from PEI, and have currently been living in calgary. I left my YJ home, and as soon as I got here I bought another Jeep, but its been over a year, and all its doing back there is being stored and collecting rust, so I'd like to have the YJ out here. Driving it across Canada is totally out of the question, it would cost a fortune in gas! I'm just looking for any details or prices.

I know a guy who shipped his Jeep to Ontario from Calgary via train. Was about $1500 I think.

I used Searail to ship an SUV from Vancouver to Calgary. Was about $500, which is a lot of fuel. Glad I did though, because if I had flown down, I would not have been able to drive it back as per the original plan.

its been awhile but a company named auto haulaway use to bring cars into alberta ( new etc ) , they also carry private cars and had a yard in moncton ...

Not sure if you're concerned with dings, scratches, and dents, etc, but...
We shipped our car from Ontario to Calgary. Make sure you video tape the condition of your jeep before shipping, or at least take pictures of it. Then ensure the person taking posession of the vehicle for shipping marks existing damages and condition.
We almost ended up in court for the damage to our car. Took us 4 months to settle it out of court and Mr Hansen didn't even give us what the independent insurance adjuster said it would take to fix all the damage.
Expect damage. I hear were one of many victims of poor shipping. In fact, someone had taken a black magic marker to a scrape about 5 inches long on our black car! JUNK!

I had www.quikasair.ca ship my Jeep door to door from Red Deer to Sarnia, Ont. It rode the train from Calgary to Toronto, and transport to and from train depot. Cost was about $1100.00 and it had no damage at all.

Hey, I was going to post up a new topic but did a search instead and found this topic. I was primarily interested in getting the price for shipping. Since shipping will be upwards of $1500 or more for shipping a vehicle from Calgary to San Diego, I decided against it. Also I couldn't find a company that went into Mexico. So I have 2 routes to go. One is to just buy a truck down in Mexico, or Two to get a friend to drive it down and have him bus it from Tijuana to SD (500 peso's) and fly him back (Cost = $200 for the flight). I guess the Third method would be to just drive it down myself, but I don't want to bother with the US waiver hassle, plus they will have it on their records forever. Anyways I plan on chilling in the mexican sun for a few months come August/09.

I would not ship anything over the road to MX as the carrier's regular cargo insurance is voided when arriving on MX soil. You would have to get your own extra cargo insurance and it's very pricy. I would use a big company to ship you Jeep. Jjust to make sure it's done right. Call Hansens Forwarding... They ship internationally. Like you said... it's alot of $$$.
If you are going only for a few months why don't you drive it yourself? You are creating a buch of headaches buy shipping your Jeep.
I say road trip it man!!!!!.. might as well stop in Moab, UT on the way ;)

I'm not sure what waiver you would need unless you have a criminal record, All you need is a passport. I travel across the border on a regular basis and have driven into MX with no problem just make sure your insurance company is aware of where you are going ( insurance rate may go up for the trip)

How long of a drive would it be from Calagary to San Diego/Tijuana with just gas, squirt, fast food breaks and doing the speed limit?
I have done 32 hours nonstop driving before, downing energy drinks to stay awake, I dont drink coffee.
I heard rumors from other people that Las Vegas is only a 22 hour drive.
A thought came across me yesterday as I was pondering this little adventure. If I needed parts I would check around the local area for the part that I needed, but if I couldn't find it I wonder how much money it would be to have it shipped in. Like lets say a rotor or an alternator. I guess its googling time.

According to good 'ol Yahoo maps, we're looking at 23 hours and 57 minutes for a non-stop run from Calgary to Tijuana. 8)
Hmmmm....I don't have to work until Monday. I've got two Company fuel cards a, 4 door JK, and satellite radio. Who wants to navigate? :o

Wait...even in Tijuana, that sort of things doesn't happen on EVERY visit. It's probably MY turn to be a guest of the mexican federal justice system. :o
