i know you guys answered these questions a million times and i've been searching the net etc but.........
I'd like start messin around with gear ratios, stronger axles and lockers, start to buy a little at a time. Just gotta figure out the right set up and thats where i get lost. Seems like theres so many different options and opinions and i don't know enough about that stuff to make my own decision about what/where to purchase.
Jeeps a 97 manual with 4.0L. I run 33's now but would like to go up to 35 once everything's upgraded, I would also like to dolly it to the trails eventually....
Im not on a super low budget, rather get it done right first time....since i do have a heavy foot..
Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Buy fugs axles and build from there.
The 30 can serve as spare sparts.
The 44 is a definate upgrade to your 35 rear.
Go to pick your part and hope to find a cherokee HP 30 for 150$ of whatever it is.
Build the the 30 and 44 into what you want while you run your existing.
Very solid 35 inch tire setup done right.

HP 30's are very common at "Pick Your Part" I have been there a couple of times over the summer and have came across Dana 44's both times.

Bnine's response is probably the best bang for your buck. The D44 is a solid axle for 35s and can be built strong with upgraded shafts. The HP D30 can be probably almost as strong as a rubi D44 front when built properly, and strong enough for 35s, even with a heavy foot
I have ARBs front and rear and I love them. There are not cheap to buy and get installed but I am glad I spent the money.

Just throw it in the wheel barrow and keep the whole works. Its all the same price as far as I know.
Hacksaw, or better yet cordless sawzall the stock arms, beat the frame side track bar TRE and pitman TRE out and take it home.
Id say disco the driveshaft, but those are always gone.
If it is a hi enough ratio you can use the stock carrier and throw an aussie in it.
You get spare shafts, knuckles, unit bearings, and brakes if its all there.
Do not get an axle disconnect type. If there is a square box on the passenger axle tube, move on and keep looking.
Gear it, lock it, shorten your stock driveshaft, put new u joints in the shafts, and you are set for heavy use with 35's. The gains are
significantly stronger ring and pinion
improved driveline angle
better alignment angle and front end handling (allows for more castor without compromising ujoint angles)
higher clearenced driveshaft
Go over "jeepsunlimited" and do a search on hp30 swap. It is probably the most popular front end swap over there. Lots of info.
