Day Trip Thru Kananaskis Country

Come join us on a day trip thru the beautiful K Country on Saturday October 13th at 10:00AM. With the recent restrictions to off road enthusiasts in so many other areas of our province we’ve now been forced to seek out other areas for our outdoor enjoyment. There are trails in the Kananaskis area of equal technical difficulty as those given to us in the Waiparous/Ghost area so the idea of venturing into new territory to enjoy a different perspective of our province is in order.

This trip will leave you inspired to spend even more time in the Kananaskis area in the upcoming year. This fall trip will leave you wanting more, and the plans for more trips for the 2008 year are in the works.

You’ll see everything from past accessible trails leading into the back country to the now well developed camp ground facilities that have people grouped together like small cities.
You’ll notice the once one way road rarely visited in years past to the now well graded roads for the RV’s of  today, leading you to the beautifully kempt golf courses and well laid out ski hills.

Please join us for this opportunity to see what we all have to look forward to for the future of places like Indian Graves, Ghost, Porcupine Hills, Castle and many others in the planning stages as we speak.

Plans are to meet at the Allen Bill Pond parking lot for a brief introductory for this day’s schedule. Then we’ll proceed in convoy and at a safe and responsible speed to the trail head known as Powder Face Trail just miles beyond the Elbow Falls parking lot. At the trails end we’ll stop at the Sibbald Flats day use area to enjoy hot dogs over a highly restricted campfire in one of the shelters provided to keep the out doorsy people comfy.

Cost for such a day trip will be one unwrapped toy to be added to those toys gathered at the Christmas Toy Cruise in December. Bring your cameras as I’m sure there’ll be lots of opportunity for photos along the way.

Please mention this trip to all your friends and family who enjoy outings to the back country. A date and time will be posted in the very near future, so stay tuned and we’re looking forward to hundreds of participants.

As per Alberta laws, there’s absolutely no drugs or alcohol to be consumed on this trail ride.

There's been a couple of questions about this run sent over PM to me. This may be of some help if questioning the motive.

Would a XJ with a 3" lift and 31's have any trouble making it through the trail?

The Powderface Trail begins just past the turn off for the Little Elbow Campground and ventures north to connect to Sibbald Creek Trail which connects to Highway 40 in K Country.  The Powderface Trail is a good gravel road, you can drive any vehicle down it including a '84 VW Rabbit GTi and a '90 Mazda 626 both equipped with low profile street rubber     It is a scenic pleasant drive in the foothills.

It's a beautiful area out there. It will be a nice spot for a picnic. I'm sorry I will not be able to make it. Bonnie and I will be traveling East during that time.

Thank God this road/trail only close part of the year in the winter... enjoy it while you can.

Sorry for the cut and paste. Lazy way out and I don't care for it but some may not even notice if they don't frequent other boards. :)

I'd like to remind everyone of this up coming run. Please remember to bring your own beverages. Obviously non alcoholic variety. I only predict any kind of difficulty to this run if someone brings thier car and it snows before Saturday, other than that it'll be a nice day out.

have the media been invited? Might be a good idea.
