Title: Local Prices for Parts, FYI
Post by: keener on October 23, 2007, 09:25:31 PM
Bnine recently supplied me with some synthetic winch line, so I went to one of our local retailers looking for an aluminum fairlead. I was quoted $80.00 and a three week delivery. I called NSOR, and purchased one from them. Total including shipping and tax was $53.00, and it will arrive at my door via DHL on Thursday.

same.
i was quoted $100-120 and/or X weeks for delivery locally.
bought 3 on ebay $51.83 each with shipping and GST and took a week.

for many things i'll pay a little extra over online waiting, but if i have to wait either way or am expected to pay double price, no thanks.

if you want it RFN ... try Campbel Mac has it in stock. They provide a lot of equipment for rigging, chains, and what not. They have synthetic Amstel blue around $3/ft. Reasonable pricing... at least they have it in stock. They can finish it for you too. THey likely have a hawse fairlead or two in stock.
