Title: Rim backspacing
Post by: gcam on November 08, 2007, 01:32:42 PM
Do all Jeep factory rims have the same backspacing? If I were to swap on a set of Rubicon rims to my XJ, would I gain a little wider stance? thanks

Geoff

Backspacing and stance is dependent on rim width.  I believe most Jeeps rims were around the same BS but there are a mix of 7" and 8" wide rims.  Now if you are swapping to a rubi rim (16x8) from one of the stock XJ rims (probably 15x7), you might gain a little in stance width

Stock BS is 4.5" I believe the rubi's are 4" BS.  And as stated the width of the rim will come into play also.

More like 5.25" on my XJ.

The rubicon rims have 5" backspacing, and most tj's had 5.5" backspacing, not sure what the cherokees had for b/s
