Title: Air bag light is on?
Post by: 01sahara on November 22, 2007, 10:01:46 AM
Hey.

In the vast pile of Chrysler / Jeep knowledge on this forum I was hoping someone might have the answerer to a tech question I am working through.

Problem, the air bag light on the dash is on. Why , because I did not disconnect the battery, as I should have, while I was disassembling interior components to replace the blower  switch and blower resistor. My mistake.

While I was removing stuff I took the consol out and disconnected the On/Off switch for the passenger side air bag in my 2001- Sahara. That is when the light came on.  The switch is now hooked back up but the light has not gone out. I tried taking the positive terminal off the battery to reset things but that did not work.  Is there a way to reset things so the light goes out? Do I need to have a code reader to clear the system?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Blair

Thanks Doug, I new it would not take long to get the real hi-tech solution to the problem. . I won’t rule out your choice but are there any other suggestions. Or would someone like to suggest the weight of the hammer I should use to smack it with.

Check the fuses, turn the switch back and forth, lastly try a comp reset.

Comes back , look for codes.

I don’t think I have hit the horn in the last month.

Either I am being to nice or I should start giving people warning before I drive over them.
