Title: What's your gas Mileage/
Post by: cablesmurf on November 23, 2007, 11:15:36 AM
Just curious what everyone is getting for gas mileage with their setups...

I have:

- RE 62 mm throttle body
- Airaid TB spacer
- Aftermarket header
- K&N FIPK and air filter
- Dynomax muffler
- MSD Spark plug wires 8.5mm
- MSD Coil Pack Blaster

I'm running 31" tires with 3:55 gears in an automatic tranny.

Currently I am getting 400 km to a tank (70L) of regular octane. I am switching to 4:56 gears in a couple of weeks, so it will be interesting to see if there is a change.  :D

In my YJ with 33s and 4.10s I am getting about 375-400 km on 75ish L tank.  I have a high flow dynomax exhaust as well and a manual tranny.  4.56s might be a little steep for 31s

Drivin a lot more highways lately. 475-ish kms/tank on 89 octane.
Really depends on how heavy my right foot is.
29' AT's @ 3.07 gearing.
K&N "Big Gulp" intake system.
Airaid throttle body spacer.
Thinkin of opening up the exhaust. Not sure if that will help much.

2 stats:

XJ, 4.0L, auto, 3.55 - 400+ in town, and almost 700 highway.  30x9.5 BFG AT's.

TJ, 2.5L, 5 speed, 4.10's -  350 in town and about 425-450 highway. 33x12.5 TRXUS MT

By the summer of next year, both will be on 33's and regeared to 4.88:1.

Are all those upgrades worth the time and money? Is there a noticeable difference in performance?

Thanks,

Talked to Bill and he agreed. The Stock rubi's come with 4:10's and could stand to be lower.

Stock TJ manual = 29's w/3:07's

Stock Rubi manual = 31's w/ 4:10's

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stock XJ auto = 29's w/ 3:55's

My XJ auto = 31's  w/ 4:56's

Make sense? I also confirmed this with alot of people on NAXJA. Plus, I will be towing with it, and may upgrade to larger tires in the future...

Regularily get 17mpg (US)
About 400 km per tank to the fuel light.

I'm almost embarassed to reveal my gas milage , that and I've never figured it out.

My Comanche 2.5 / 5 spd / 4.10 gears / 31's , lame on power , fuel economy sucks.

94 YJ 2.5 / 5 spd / 4.88 gears / 33's  / 4.0 throttle body / flowmaster muffler / electric fan  , good power for a 4 banger , pretty good fuel economy.    ( next to the 4.88's , the electric fan was the biggest improvement )

88 YJ  4.7 stroker / 5 spd / Banks header / Comp cam / ported / roller rockers / RE 62mm throttle body/ Banks full exhaust / MSD wires n' coil /  4.56 gears / MTR 35's or 36" Iroc bias ply  depending on destination.
VERY powerful , best torque at low rpm , mostly stop n' go driving so fuel economy sucks , on the highway it gets good milage. Sadly this one only likes premium .  It is capable of lifting front tires on pavement if done correctly though not recomended ( AX-15's do not like shock loads) , I believe this transmission is at it's limit for maximum input torque.

4.0L HO, ax-15 5-speed, 4.10 gears, 33" MT/R's, electric fan, ditched the cat and added a hi-flow muffler, just weighed the jeep at 1820kilograms with me in it and half a tank of fuel, full hard doors and hard-top installed... and no im not really fat. but i figure i get about 500kms to a 72litre tank.
the muffler helped a lot, the electric fan helped a lot as well. i dont have a fancy intake or TB yet. eventually would like to get the newer style intake manifold, a hesco 68mm TB and a hi flow intake. maybe a chip and bigger injectors... apparently Uni-chip has a new plug in computer for the 4.0L that can be tunable. and painless wiring is designing a stand alone fuel managment system.

4.0L w/ 2.5" Exhaust, Dynomax Muffler, MSD 6.A Digital Ignition, MSD Blaster Coil, MSD 8.5mm Plug Wires, Bosch Platinum Split Plugs, K&N FIPK, 62mm Throttle Body, 31" lift and running 245/16's.  Just put in 71.67L (really rean it dry) and there where 388.4km on the od.  Wow, my mileage sucks for a 4.0L, then again, I let it warm up forabout 5-10mins in -20...

OK then.  So I took out the 28" blocks and 28" coil spacers (jackasses)   , so I'm at around 3" of lift w/ 31's that measure around 29".  The mileage seems to have improved this tank.  I'm at 360km and still have 1/8th of a tank left.

If I were to run my tank dry, be getting almost 500kms out of 60L of gas.  Is that reasonable :?:

stock ZJ with 5.2L (29" tires and 3.73 gearing) and the K&N FIPK i got 29 - 30 on the highway. goto edmonton on quarter tank.  (80L tank) city was round 500.
now with the lift and 33s, mileage in city is the pits, maybe 12, and highway is still decent, get bout 400 - 500 to a tank, depends how much of a hurry i'm in

93 ZJ 4.0L 4.88 gears 9" lift, 35-36" tires  11-12mpg city and approx 14-15mpg on the highway.  That works out to about 320-340km per tank city(80litre).  Not too bad all things considered.

21 mpg is awesome

Me ? , fuel economy  is at an all time low , been running tires that are nearly 37" tall for a few weeks  , speedo accuracy is questionable too.

35" MTR's going back on  till the ground thaws.
