Title: radiator issue
Post by: JackstandJohnny on January 17, 2008, 12:05:40 AM
so i can see steam coming out from my hood after jeeps been warmed up.  looks like its coming from just below the upper rad hose.  what causes this? is there a crack in the rad or something?   what are my options?

cold there??... my zj always had a problem with leaking where the plastic tank are crimped to the aluminum radiator.   my have always leaked more towards the bottom of the rad...    it always seemed to leak when it was cold ( -15 to -20C ) and would stop when the jeep had warmed up long enough for the everything to expand again and seal the hole.

i went thru 4 rads trying get rid of this problem... my solutions is i am going to get a full aluminum rad made.$$$

hmm, well, i don't think its a cold/warm issue as it was around 0 when i noticed it. and i can see traces of steam coming form just under the upper rad hose (4.0L)  so tonight i will put some stop leak in it, see if it works! if not,  i'm going to have a rum and cry myself to sleep

played with it last night, threw some radiator stop leak in it and ran it for 45 minutes. think it solved the problem
