Title: NP231 YJ to TJ
Post by: AV.NINE on February 17, 2008, 05:32:37 PM
Just curious, will a NP231 from a YJ fit into a 99 TJ??

Also will the steering box switch over?

Thanks,
J

The t-case will not be a problem as long as there are both mfor the same tranny, becasue input splines and shaft lengths are different depending on the tranny.

Ive been searching for a long time trying to find out what tranny I have. 99 TJ ax-15?

That sounds about right, if it is a 4.0L 5 speed.  If the YJ t-case is from an AX-15 tranny there should be no problems

I tried this once.....I was going to put an NP-231 from an 87 YJ 2.5L into a 97 TJ 2.5L.....totally different. Output was different, speedo cable was different, wiring was different.  Compare the two cases before you buy the YJ one. Just in case!

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np231.htm

Can someone interpret their "Transmission Compatibility & Adaptability"?? does that mean it will fit from 88-99?
