I was bored this long weekend so I made this cold air intake for the TJ using the factory intake with PVC and a crappy tire Reactive filter which I will be replacing with a K&N from Napa here shortly. Yea I got the new JP Mag for april and they have an intake "shoot-out", after checking out the average price for CAI I figured screw those jerks I'll just make my own. And I did, for $50, here it is:

Definitely an improvement in acceleration, ease of shifting and next-to-no lag in highway hill climbs. So yea.

While I admire your ingenuity and I hate to say it... but you just made it much easier to take a nice big drink the next time you do a water crossing. While not exactly a CAI, relocating the intake into the cowl is a much better idea. Check out this link (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=700802&highlight=cowl+intake) on jeepsunlimited.
So drill a hole through the cowl and flip that puppy around and you'll be rocking

definitely will! i was looking for a better place to stick it, wasnt in too much of a rush, but yea this info is good, thanks bud!
also considering putting a pipe insulating tape around the intake pipe thats over top of the engine so it keeps the heat out.
