If there are logs gonna crunch your windshield, then you're prolly upside-down!
Otherwise, Q did it this way for James Bond.

The A-Team used steel plate with little rectangles for viewports to cover the glass windshield.
Bulletproof glass is expensive, and thick. The stock windshield frame won't take bulletproof glass anyways.
Aircraft cable, 1/16 or 1/8 is plenty strong. PA has it for cheap. The weakpoints are your brackets at the windshield frame, and the eyebolts thru the front fender. Plus use a thimble in your loops to keep the cable from kinking. And maybe a small turnbuckle to keep the cable tensioned.
Otherwise, fold the windshield down, and not worry about the logs? Make sure you have a full cage tho.
As for "Heavy Duty", do an exo-cage.
Not sure what kind of jeep ya got. But last I looked, a wranglers windshield was under $150.

yeah no full cage. not yet anyways, and Ive already got the bulletproof glass and the hidden 3 inch steel guard, but the guard is in the back, and i don't want to scratch the glass. Q will kill me next time i don't bring it back the same way i took it out as. hes still super pis$ed about the Aston martin.
but i think I'm just going to weld something up. probably just out of some square tubing, maybe 1.5 x 1.5. nice and heavy duty.
