ok so i want to get my 2.5l out of there and start to get my rig build really going. ok so i have access to a freshly rebuilt chrysler 360 and want to know if this is a good candidate for my v8 swap. it comes with everything. both motor and tranny but what else would i need and again is this a good motor choice? let me know ASAP cause the deal on the motor wont last long! thanks

tcase... the stock 4 cyl yj case won't bolt up or handle the v8 :D

i dont have any experiance on this but ive heard from quite a few places its a very easy swap. of course you'll need a new transfercase and you also need some stronger axles, but dont let that deal pass by! pick up the engine then get the rest of the parts that you need before you start. just my 2 cents

Is the tranny from a 2wd or 4wd vehicle? If its from a 2wd vehicle you won't be able to use it. You need a 4wd tranny. Also a t-case from a Dodge would have a right hand side output, you need a left hand side output to match your D30. So you would either need to swap in a front diff from a Dodge or do some homework on how to mate a Dodge tranny to a Chev/Jeep t-case. Probably wouldn't be hard, just swap input shafts but you would need to buy two t-cases.
Also a Dodge 360 is NOT the same as an AMC 360 and will not bolt to an AMC tranny(even if it is a 727, case is different).

I just did the swap in my yj. I got the motor from a 77 cherokee. I used a TF999 from a yj and changed the input shaft on the t case to the LONG 23 spline. The 231 will handle the v8 just fine. It went in really easy. Ask me anything you want.

You used an AMC360, not a Dodge 360. ;) None of the Dodge and AMC components are bolt on compatible as per the post above yoursfrom cLAY. :-X

Ah yes..... Didnt read the dodge part. Go find an amc.
