Well Finlay got front and rear tow points, am almost ready to hit the trails. Just wondering If you guys can give me tips on what gear I should carry in the jeep while wheeling? I'm planing to go wheeling Saturday and sunday probably at Maclean as thats the only place I know.
as of now all I have is Shackles and a 30' tow strap. what are other common and must have gear in a jeep. I want to make sure that I have at least the basics covered. Hopefully I'll be in town for the stocker run, I'd like to learn a thing or two about wheeling safely and properly.
Thanks
Rafal

toilet paper... never forget the s@#t tickets.......
ha ha , thats the one item you dont want to be without ...
if you dont have get a fullsize spare and a cb radio ...
I usually pack a few basic things like the following that fit in a small rubbermaid - my space is ltd, whatever you pack make sure its tied down with seatbelts or bungee cords cause it can hurt you or someone if things get rough ...
- camera
- antifreeze
- ltr oil
- spare fan/alt belts
- work gloves for spooling winch
- winch accessories
- few multi use tools like vice grips, few sockets, hammer, smaller pry bar ...
- lotsa water (mostly for me)
- duct tape and extra roll of wipe
- map(s)
- garbage bag to haul trash out
am sure others can expand on this ...

a first-aid kit! i don't know about the rest of you but when the roofs on, then i like the windows down and well you drive an xj so I'm sure the windows will be down. well that long thick pine Branch that you think you can just push out of the way.... is going to hit you in the face, it in inevitable. so bandages are a good thing

Some additional items I carry are - a shovel , an axe , a bow saw , fire extinguisher , tire repair kit , water , a hand spray bottle with water or windshield washer fluid in it, a winter coat and warm wear of some kind in case you have an oopsie and need to stay out overnight , extra snacks and water ( see last item ) , a basic spare parts assortment & tools .

When there is a chance that things might get um , ...... well , stupid , I bring spare axle shafts , I always carry spare U joints .

For those that carry a fire extinguisher, and it's not a CO2, Halon, or Hal-guard.....please take them to a shop and have them serviced! All the vibrations from your rigs will compress the powder and render it useless. At the very least, pound it on the ground a couple times and give it a good shake before you use it.

you guys are making an awesome list, thank you. this will help not only me, but i'm sure other new members to the offroad comunity. this is great

most has been covered allready but I also carry 2 bottles of windshield was, and at least 1 roll of paper towels or the blue ones, Rubber boots, dry socks, and a touque, (nights get cold all year round in the mountains).
and jumper cables
The most important thing if your green is not to go alone! A second jeep can literally save your life!
OH ya, don't forget your better judgment leaving that at home can cost you big time!
Have fun
