Title: Spike TV Trucks
Post by: mrjeep4 on June 01, 2008, 01:39:56 PM
Just watched one of the best  Trucks episodes yet ...  (i think anyway) ...   "Cheep Cherokee Part 4"    they were out testing an XJ on public land use trails.  Very nice looking trails, but what i liked the most about it  they did quite a bit of talking about responsible wheeling  and to tread lightly.  I hope a lot of people watched that.  The more people who become aware and educated on responsible wheeling and the importance of it to  us keeping our privilege of using these areas, the closer we get to a solution for sustainable trails.

I saw it too, very good show. I was waiting for them to pull the front bumper off, it is only mounted to the stock bumper points. Other then that it is a good set up and I think they said they only spent 3 G’s on it.

saw it - liked it

cherokee had a nice stance,  think they said 6700$ invested which incl the jeep ?
they ran a weld bead around the tubes @ center section of the ford 8.8 to add strength,
never heard of that as a problem area ?

they did a yj awhile back also ...

8.8's have only 3 pressed in plugs or crappy plug welds holding each axle tube to the centersection which can break loose under a heavy torque load and the centersection will spin ...probably taking out a driveshaft and possibly a transfer case... the best and cheapest fix...weld the axle tubes to the centersection and no more problems

they have the same problems we have in the US .. trails are closing left and right...

It's good to promote responsable wheeling. It's tough to change the mind of people.... Wheeling on public land is a privilege ... it can be taking away any days...

That's the second show I see about responsable wheeling on the power block...

that's good!

Enjoy... don't Destroy!!! (Tread Lightly)

Cheers
